Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about transforming your home and wardrobe with color.

What types of fabric can I dye with Rit products?

Rit All-Purpose Dye works on natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk, wool, and ramie. For synthetic fabrics containing more than 35% polyester, acrylic, or acetate, please use Rit DyeMore specifically formulated for synthetics.

Can I use Rit Dye in my front-loading washing machine?

Yes, you can use Rit in both front-loading and top-loading machines. We recommend a thorough cleaning cycle with hot water and bleach immediately after dyeing to ensure no residue remains in the drum or rubber seals.

How do I make the color last longer and prevent fading?

To lock in color and prevent bleeding, we highly recommend using Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing and before the first wash. This is especially effective on cotton, linen, and rayon.

How long does shipping take for my order?

Standard shipping typically takes 3-7 business days within the continental United States. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as your order leaves our warehouse.

What is your return policy for opened dye bottles?

Due to the nature of the product, we can only accept returns on unopened and sealed bottles within 30 days of purchase. If your product arrived damaged, please contact our support team for a replacement.

Will dyeing my clothes cover up bleach stains or spots?

Dye is translucent, meaning it may not fully hide bleach spots. We recommend using Rit Color Remover first to strip the existing color to an off-white or cream base before redyeing the entire garment.
